In Greek theater, the προαγών (proagōn), literally "before the competition," was the occasion when theater companies presented their new works to the public in order to generate public anticipation and interest.
From this historical reference comes a new PROAGŌN in the historic center of Venice, adapted to contemporary performing arts thanks to the VENEZIA ICONA call (DGR n. 727/23) of the Veneto Region, which supports the revitalization of the productive fabric of the historic city through the development and attraction of innovative professions and businesses but rooted in Venetian tradition and culture. PROAGŌN is led by Enaip Veneto with the scientific support of Ca' Foscari University Venice (Centro aiku - Arte Impresa Cultura), T2i and the Municipality of Venice as operating partners, and the Teatro Stabile del Veneto with the Carlo Goldoni Theater Academy as an experimental context.
PROAGŌN is a performing arts incubator-the first in Italy-which aims to promote cultural and creative entrepreneurship in Venice by reviving its long history as a "city of theaters." Through training programs, mentorship and support for the creation of artistic projects, PROAGŌN will provide artists, technicians and cultural entrepreneurs with the skills and resources they need to navigate and establish themselves in the world of performing arts.
